1. Data Controller

linuxuniversity.co is an independent educational project operated from Drummondville, Quebec, Canada.

2. Data we collect

We only collect the data needed to provide the service. Nothing more.

Account data:

  • Email address (for login)
  • Password (hashed with bcrypt, never in plain text)
  • Mission progress (which you completed, accumulated XP)

Analytics data (only with your consent):

If you accept Google Analytics 4, Google collects: pages visited, time on page, browser type, approximate country (derived from IP, IP is NOT stored), and custom events (which mission you completed). Google may use this data according to its own policy (google.com/policies/privacy).

Data we do NOT collect:

  • We do not store your IP address.
  • We do not sell, share, or give your email to third parties.
  • We do not use marketing or advertising cookies.

We only use strictly necessary session cookies (PHPSESSID, lu_session).

3. Legal basis (Loi 25 / PIPEDA)

We operate under Quebec (Loi 25) and Canadian federal (PIPEDA) laws. We treat your information according to the principles of: explicit consent, purpose limitation, data minimization, and right to be forgotten.

4. Your rights

You can exercise at any time:

  • Access: request all your data
  • Rectification: correct incorrect data
  • Erasure: delete your account and all data
  • Portability: receive your data in standard format

5. Retention

Account data: while your account is active. When you delete the account, all data is erased immediately. Audit logs: maximum 90 days.

6. International transfers

If you accept Google Analytics, data is transferred to Google LLC in the United States. Google is certified under the EU-US and Canada-US Data Privacy Framework.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days in advance.
